In 1988, Christian first appeared on the cover of Surfer magazine, boosting an aerial on what the magazine billed as the "Anti-Standard Issue." At the time, Fletcher and his airborne antics seemed decidedly bizarre; any photo depicting a surfer not connected to wave face still drew quizzical looks. The next year, Fletcher's flying mug appeared simultaneously on both Surfer and Surfing, establishing him as a one-man lobby of change. The media blitz set off a backlash by more conventional surfers, including a petition signed by nearly the entire ASP Top 16 questioning the magazines' integrity in ignoring the traveling pros in favor of "a guy who spent his summer at Trestles." This guy is León Vicuña, a surfer from chile. Here you can see him charging Las Docas, Punta de Lobos, El Buey and El Gringo, all them paddling. The weakness of the footage is the music. So put it on mute and listen to the music bellow. Regards Jay Adams shows all his spontaneity in Trestles. Lee Wilson charges a thick, heavy wave, no words for the shacks on the second half of the video, i`l buy my ticket to Indonesia right now. Introducing Paul Morgan. After a lifetime of wrong choices, he decided to change the boring and cheating aproach of the tow-in surfing for authentic charging surf in waves like Mavericks, hawaiian Outer Reefs and the slab Cow Bommie in West OZ ( first paddle session attempted out there). "It was challenging, Australia has a lot of waves which are just to thick to paddle but at the same time i felt my surfing was getting a push and i felt a satisfaction tha I never had in years with towing, so I'm hooked. No looking back now", says the gambler paul morgan from vanessa gonzalez on Vimeo. Felipe Cesarano is a maniac charger from Brazil and he has everything to be one of the best of the world. He has balls, insanity, will, and if he dies, it won't be for gold, it will be for glory. But t it's still missing a little something for him: a good advice. Forget the jet-ski and go paddle retard!!! PS: one more advice: listen to thrash
Hated by ASP. What more can i say about this guy? Tough ain't enough When the waves are real big in brazil, only a few can deal with the mess. Lots of water moving, closeout waves and no channel or keyhole. Ladies and gentleman, presenting Evaristo "Kiko" Ferreira Guns, figths, sewage and chocolate barrels. Ricky Basnet and Jonh Micheletti face the reality of the third world. |
